While I can appreciate the skill involved in making a 40-year-old woman look like she’s not a second over 18, I really hate the impossible standards that images set for women of all ages.
That being said, you should know I’m a total hypocrite. I spend hours making my images flawless in Photoshop. Every speck of dust; deleted. Every sign of decay; rejuvenated. Any element that offends my eye; eliminated.
At least I can’t offend a flower by fixing its flaws. =/
What do you think about excessive retouching on women?
Hahaha – the irony. As for editing my photos I am “still” learning / reminding myself often that it’s beautiful enough (and my idea of beauty may be different than someone else)… hmm to leave the disheveled ladder in the floral shoot or crop it out etc etc. As for editing faces to look younger … I dislike and like. In one hand I am AMAZED on what can be done, on the other hand … people can’t recognize people when they meet in person bec they look NOTHING like the photo. A little tweaking I am ok with … for hey I have my days of sleepless nights and would love editing my dark circles to look my “normal” self.
I totally agree with you Ada. I guess we all struggle with that fine line between too real and too fake these days. Thanks so much for stopping by!
